Framework for a Thriving Technology City

Konza Technology City is a vision for a sustainable city 60km outside of Nairobi. Designed to propel Kenya to meet its Vision 2030 goal of becoming a middle-income nation, the project will position the country as Africa’s leading high-tech hub by expanding Kenya’s nascent Information Technology Enabled Services sector. The project will create a vibrant, walkable, world-class model for urban development.

To support these aims, LEVEL supported the World Bank Group and the International Finance Corporation to create an integrated development process based on sustainable planning principles. The IFC approached LEVEL to help make Konza an exemplar of large-scale, mixed-use development. To achieve this vision, LEVEL advised the IFC and their consultant team (lead by HR&A) on development strategy, business planning, master planning, and infrastructure planning with the aim of crafting a new model of sustainable development for Africa’s burgeoning urban cities.
